JW's will bet their entire life on a false understanding of Romans 6: 7. They take it out of context and imagine that when they die (literally) they get a clean slate.
The WT itself says differently in w85 12/1 p. 11 :
While still living in the flesh, these “righteous ones” undergo a symbolic death. The apostle Paul explains: ...Therefore we were buried with him through our baptism into his death, .. . . because we know that our old personality was impaled with him ...For he who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”—Romans 6:2-7.
The word "acquitted should read "freed" because dead bodies can't sin anymore. That is the thought here. But all the same, the WT admits this is not talking about a physical death.
So then, Why do JW's stubbornly hang on to a doctrine of self-atonement?
